If you have a scenario like this, what does a Christian obedient to the Great Commission do? You got it! Be there and share the Gospel to as many people as possible. And that's exactly what Living Waters Asia did last April 17.
In partnership with Robert Clark and his family (they initiated this outreach) who are doing missionary work here in the Philippines and Emmanuel Baptist Church, the team stationed itself at the main gate of Baptist Bible Seminary and Institute. Right after the main road going to Antipolo Church was closed (about 15 kilometers long), people began to make their way to this famed church. Some carrying crosses. Some carrying graven images. Some barefoot. Some even carrying with them their children. The idea was that the more difficult they make the trek going to the church, the more sins are forgiven making them more deserving of Heaven when they die. Of course, this is not what the Bible tells us as the way to get to Heaven. Ephesians 2:8-9 clearly tells us that it is only by the grace of God that we are saved through faith, and not of ourselves because that is a gift from Him, not to be received through our good works which we may end up boasting about.
And that was the message we declared during the outreach. We shared the Gospel through thousands of tracts, conversations, as well as through the "Jesus" movie that Emmanuel Baptist Church showed in a large screen. Yes, the outreach was tiring. But this is something we understand we Christians must all engage in. Only God knows who took seriously the Gospel message that evening. Our only job was to share the message and that's what we did. The rest is up to God to finish.
Please pray for the people who have learned about the Gospel through this outreach.
