In the past two years, Living Waters Asia has included a vacation Bible school (VBS) for kids to its summer evangelism outreaches. This summer is no different. But instead of doing the VBS again where we did the last two in the town of Bustos, Bulacan, we decided to hold this year's kids outreach in a community in Baliuag, Bulacan, and we are happy to have made that move.
A section in the barangay of Pagala, right beside a big shopping mall, is a community with families that have none of the privileges that most people around it enjoy. We chose this area beside a dried-up rice field as the venue for our 5-day VBS from May 7 to 11. Kids learned about the 7 C's of history as Answers In Genesis presents it. In the days of this outreach that LWA partnered with Banner of Truth Independent Baptist Church, volunteers explained the Gospel and its scope from the very first pages of the Bible to what is presented in the Book of Revelation.
The kids that attended the VBS were not the only ones that heard the Gospel. Their parents and other adults in the area often listened during the classes and they all joined in during the graduation ceremony on the 5th day. We also gave Gospel tracts to people roaming around the area whenever that opportunity was available. Several local politicians were recipients of tracts on the first day of the VBS as they did their campaign for the election that was to happen the week after. And the day before the start of the outreach, the team also were able to share the Gospel to the Badjao tribal people who camped just a few hundred meters from the venue.
This outreach was really a big success. God allowed so many people to hear the Gospel in the five days we were in this community. After the graduation program, several of the kids voiced their desire to attend Sunday school at Banner of Truth Independent Baptist Church. And true enough, there were those that were present the following Sunday at the church. Please continue to pray for these kids and the adults who got to hear/read about the Gospel during this yearly summer outreach.

Just like in previous years, Living Waters Asia took the opportunity to deliver the Gospel message during the celebration of Labor Day of this year. A team of volunteers of almost 20 people made their way to Clark, Pampanga, where the United States military once had an airbase for several decades.
Clark is a very interesting city in the Philippines. Because American servicemen abounded this area in Central Luzon for a long time, many have married or had children with Filipinos here. And so, there are a lot of "Fil-Ams" that call Clark their home and you can still obviously see American influence in the area. And despite the U.S. military base here already closed for about three decades already, many former U.S. servicemen have stayed or come back here for their retirement years. And so, the bars in Clark that promote promiscuity and casinos that encourages people to gamble are still alive and well. You can say that Clark has become a small version of a "sin city" in the Philippines.
This is the reason why LWA chose to do evangelism here for Labor Day 2018. The volunteers were grouped into small teams and got their own area to saturate with Gospel tracts and to engage people in conversations with whenever that opportunity presented themselves. We were able to converse with a group of jeepney drivers waiting for their turn to drive passengers to their destinations. Another volunteer had a conversation with someone who wanted to understand the power of God to keep His child from straying away from His hand. People going to places, policemen keeping order in the area, men and women doing business, and people with nothing to do in a nearby park received Gospel tracts from the LWA team.
It was tough doing evangelism under the heat of the summer sun. But it was all worth it. King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes that labor under the sun are worthless as it is just one of many tiring cycles in life. But the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:58 comforts us that the labor we do for the Lord is not in vain. The evangelism we did here is one that will have eternal significance as it was done for the Lord.
Please pray for the people that received the Gospel in our Labor Day evangelism at Clark.
