What do you do when you know people are around because it's the summer season? Answer: You look for them in the streets and deliver the Gospel to them.
Just like in past years, Living Waters Asia's volunteers made their presence felt in busy streets for summer street outreaches. Last April 13, a team went to the area of the famed SM Mall of Asia in Manila and met people with Gospel tracts. It was a very hot day and you can bet that we were sweating hard as we walked around this huge shopping and recreation center. But the team weren't willing to let the summer heat of that day destroy the desire of everyone to deliver the Gospel to people going about their business for the day.
And just this morning, April 30, we went to the provincial capitol center of Bulacan at the City of Malolos and shared the Gospel to people. Gospel tracts were given out to people getting rides at the transportation pick-up points, to people walking around and to people in stores in the area. Team members also conversed with people in the park and shared the Gospel to them.
We hope to do more summer street evangelism events. The summer season is a great time to meet people to share the Gospel to them.
God has given every person talents and abilities which we can use for His glory. Of the people volunteering at Living Waters Asia, one prominent gift is in teaching children as several of them are teachers by profession. Now add to the God-given gifts the opportunities opening for us, then we have an evangelism event!
That is exactly what we did. God had opened for us the chance to do an outreach for kids in one of the communities in the town of Bustos, Bulacan while Filipino children are in their summer break. We were allowed by the barangay chairwoman of Camachilihan, Bustos, Bulacan to use the day-care center of the community for a kids outreach. And so, last April 27, we started a five-day vacation Bible school. This is the first time Living Waters Asia is doing this that's why we are so excited about it. Around 30 kids are attending the VBS, excitedly brought by their parents to the center. The LWA volunteers are using their teaching-gifts to deliver the Gospel to kids in a fun way. Kids are taught Gospel songs, play games that share biblical truths and are made to understand the Gospel.
Please pray for this outreach as we continue with it up to the 4th of May.
As most schools in the Philippines end their school year in the month of March, we expect lots of opportunities for evangelism as there will be lots of people around. And that's what LWA started the summer season with.
Every year, Living Waters Asia conducts an overnight event for the graduating junior high school class of Notre Christi Academy of the Philippines. As in the past, this was a fun -filled event for the students as they had to compete with each other for prizes. But the highlight of the night was the Gospel message that Dennis Mark Aglosolos delivered at the end of the evening event. He spoke of the Gospel as the most important message that every person must respond to, and the response would dictate their eternal destiny.
March 24 came next. In the calendar, this is known as Holy Thursday. The members of the congregation of Living Waters Asia trooped to Clark, Pampanga, and conducted evangelism in the area. Armed with Gospel tracts and ready to strike conversations with people leading to a presentation of the Gospel message, everyone braved the heat of the summer sun and went around the market and transportation areas. A total of 43 members of the church joined. After the evangelism session, the group had a lunch fellowship at a nearby park.
We have several upcoming evangelism events for the rest of the summer and we hope that you'll pray for us as we continue to heed the Great Commission.
