To my dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
A lot of you learned about a recent experience of mine where I had to go through an emergency operation to have my entire right kidney removed after it was found that it was already totally blocked by a mass that we hope soon will not be found cancerous. After the operation, my doctors observed that my remaining kidney is not yet functioning the way it should. The night I learned that even after the operation, I still faced challenges with my remaining kidney, I felt quite depressed as I wanted so much to get out of the hospital and continue on with the life I have come to enjoy... serving our Master. The thought of not being able to get back to the work of sharing the Gospel cast deep sadness in my heart.
That was when Ray Comfort posted an “urgent prayer request” for me on his Facebook page. When I woke up the following day, I found Living Waters Asia's email full of messages of prayers for me from people I don't know personally. Messages and phone calls from Christians in the US, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe and from my country lifted the sadness in my heart and replaced it with the hope that only God can give His child. To further lift my morale up, I received a call from Ray Comfort that morning expressing his love and support for me.
Special mention also to Emeal Zwayne and Allen Atzbi, the staff of Living Waters Asia, workmates and other Christian friends for the support I got from them. My family, as always, has been a strong shoulder to lean on for me. From my parents, my in-laws, my siblings and their spouses, nephews and nieces, uncles and aunts, cousins, my children and my ever-caring and loving wife, I really felt the blessing of family.
I've never experienced such love from God's family like that before. And for that, I'd like to express my gratitude to you all. THANK YOU! I felt God's love through you. I hope and pray that someday, I can also be used by God to show His love for you.
Right now, I am still recovering and undergoing several tests for my remaining kidney. We're still awaiting the result of the test the laboratory is doing for the kidney that was removed. We're hoping that it will be favorable. I praise the Lord that even in my situation, I got to share the Gospel to people. In between bed rests and dialysis sessions, I have been able to give out tracts, share the Gospel to nurses and to people who visit me. My heart's desire is to have more years ahead of me serving our Savior. But He knows what will glorify Him more. And because of that, I tell Him, "Not my will Lord, but yours be done."
Until the nets are full,
Summer time is a great time for sharing the Gospel. A lot of Christians, especially the students, are in vacation from school. The laborers for the harvest are abounding. All we need to do is to train them on how to deliver the Gospel effectively and biblically, the way Jesus did.
That's exactly what Living Waters Asia did last April 10. The ministry office was the venue for a crash course on biblical evangelism. Facilitating the seminar were Kim Desiderio and Roy Juliano (we love referring to them as Kim Cameron and Roy Comfort), long-time volunteers in the ministry. In attendance were young people from several churches as well as some of their pastors.
The duo first explained the principle of biblical evangelism. Then actual witnessing clips of us were shown, as well as a demonstration on how to apply the principle. After that, the participants were asked to pick partners from among themselves and that's when they practiced sharing the Gospel, WOTM-style, with each other. Then the challenge was raised a level higher when they were asked to step out of the office to the nearby park and find people to witness to. The experience was new for most of the participants. A lot of them confessed to being scared at first but fear was slowly replaced by joy when they realized that they were doing something that is God's will.
LWA plans to do one more round of this summer crash course in the coming weeks so that more people get to hear the Gospel, hopefully, not just this summer, but the whole year round.
