We really experienced God's hand in this yearly mission trip. God opened doors for us. We were able to go to two national high schools with a combined 8,000 to 10,000 students. We gave out tracts there and declared the Gospel room to room. Government agencies gladly allowed us inside their offices so that we can give tracts to their employees. Rain that you'll expect to hinder us from evangelizing turned out to be a blessing in disguise as we were able to preach the message of true freedom to jail inmates. We were able to declare the Gospel to people in relocation sites with the help of pastors in the area and even had the chance to preach in a passenger boat. And to top it all, we were even able to conduct a Way of the Master seminar in the city through our host church.
We also saw the remnants of the damage the super typhoon last year left. The properties and public infrastructures destroyed would really cost billions of pesos to fix. Stories of people who have had loved ones die during the calamity were really heart-wrenching. We visited several mass graveyards, with one having 2,000 bodies buried. We can still see the pain in people's eyes.
But we also saw how what happened opened the people to the Gospel. Very few turned us down with offers of Gospel tracts or a conversation about God. One pastor that evangelized with us commented that we really need to strike while the iron is hot because people are so welcoming of the Gospel message there at this time. And that we did and God blessed our time sharing the message of hope in Tacloban City
Thanks to Ptr. Robert Serrano and his church, Christ Baptist Church, for their assistance to us. Message of "Thanks" are also in order for everyone that prayed and supported us in this mission trip. May you not grow weary in supporting activities like this. But above all, we praise God for allowing us to accomplish in Tacloban what He had set for us to accomplish there. To Him be all the glory!
