When we go to a particular province to share the Gospel, most of the time, we don't have arranged schedule of where to go or what kind of evangelism to do. We just go with the opportunities God opens for us. Such was the case for Gospel Buzz 2017. We had with us thousands of Gospel tracts, ice-breakers for one-to-one witnessing sessions, sound system for open-air preaching, etc. We went there hoping that we can use all of them. By God's grace, He allowed us to really use them and even more.
When we went to the city of Maria Aurora, we really wanted to do some open-air preaching at their public market. When we got to the place, we were told that we cannot just preach without a mayor's permit. At first, because we realized that we will only be in that city for the morning and that securing the permit will take a lot of our time, we made ourselves content with opportunities to just distribute Gospel tracts and do one-to-one presentations. But the LWA director really wanted to open air preach, and so, he and his son went to the municipal building and requested that they get to talk to the city mayor. Because the staff of the mayor were thrilled with the Duterte Million Peso tracts we gave them, they were more than willing to squeeze us in the mayor's morning schedule so we can get his permission to do what we wanted to do. When we got our chance, we told the mayor what our group is doing there in his city and requested that we be given a permit to open-air preach in their market area. The mayor responded by requesting that we share to him what we were planning to preach at his jurisdiction. That really surprised our director because the mayor was asking him to share the Gospel to him. What an opportunity! After sharing the Gospel to him, he then told us that we got his permission and the permit will be free of charge for us. We were then instructed to go to another office where the permit will be printed. When we got to that office, the one in-charge, after telling her what the permit was all about, again asked our director to share what we intend to preach at the market to her and her staff. Another door for the Gospel was opened! We had a great time preaching the Gospel at the market place after that.
The open-air preaching sessions at Maria Aurora ended pass twelve noon. By that time, the team was badly needing of lunch. Our bus went around the area for about twenty minutes, looking for a place to eat. We couldn't find one. The bus driver, sensing that if we don't get our lunch soon, we will choose to eat him instead (just joking), entered a street hoping to find food for us. But as we were driving that street, a high school happened to just dismissed their students from their morning exams. We quickly disembarked our bus and gave tracts to hundreds of students, equally hungry as the LWA team. God used our need for food to open for us an opportunity to deliver the Gospel to people.
The following day, we went to the town of San Luis. When we got there, there were very few people around. A big amount of that morning was spent looking for people to give tracts to. But that morning was not wasted. One of the LWA team members was able to talk to the principal of a national high school and was able to get an invitation for us to go back the next morning to share the Gospel to the school during their flag ceremony. The following day, we preached the Gospel to about eight hundred high school students and teachers.
On another day, we went to the huge public market of Baler, Aurora. We again wanted to open-air preach. And so, the LWA director looked for the market manager to ask for permission. Because the manager felt that we were very respectful in first asking for his permission, he not only allowed us to do two open-air preaching sessions in any place we choose in the market that day, he even asked us to come back the morning that we go back home to do one more open-air preaching session there.
While there in Baler, Aurora, we were also able to do an evening Way of The Master seminar for the members of Baler Bay Lighthouse Baptist Church. We were so happy for the opportunity to do the seminar that opened the eyes of that congregation to what biblical evangelism really is about and challenged them to be more involved in the Great Commission.
We went home filled with joy for what God had allowed to be accomplished in this year's GOSPEL BUZZ. We thank all of you who prayed and financially supported this outreach. Heaven will someday reveal to us the results of our evangelism efforts. Let's continue praying for everyone that read and heard the Gospel during GOSPEL BUZZ 2017.
