Every year, between the last week of August and the first week of September, LWA conducts a retreat for the graduating class of Notre Christi Academy of the Philippines (NCAP) of Bustos, Bulacan. Because NCAP wants to be sure that their graduating class would leave with a clear understanding of the Gospel, they have tapped the assistance of LWA to facilitate this retreat. This is something we enjoy doing as we not only get the priviledge of declaring JESUS as the only Savior, we also get to raise much-needed funds for our upcoming mission trip (GOSPEL BUZZ 2011) as NCAP gives LWA a love gift for our work. This year's retreat is our fourth to facilitate.
The retreat with the theme "Sailing on Unchartered Territory" happened from Sept. 1 to 3 at LWA's favorite camp site, Lola Corazon Resort at Candaba, Pampanga. Lectures about what to expect and avoid in college that included Gospel presentations were delivered during the retreat. Arvin Cunanan talked about the dangers of peer pressure in his lecture entitled "In or Out". Kim Desiderio talked about fads and fashion that may be popular but not even an ounce God-glorifying. Dennis Mark Y. Aglosolos talked on "The Dangers of Secular Worldviews". Sin, righteousness and Judgment to come was a recurring theme all throughout the retreat, not only in the lectures but also in the morning devotions.
There were also games, a movie night and lots of food and swimming time during the retreat that made the 3-day event very memorable to the students. But the retreat will be more memorable for them if they will take to heart the Gospel that they heard during this event and respond to it. Please continue praying for the students.
Dennis Mark Y. Aglosolos preaches the Gospel after every movie screening
Since the Living Waters Asia Student Center opened last June for School Year 2011-2012, we have already held three free evangelistic movie screenings for high school and college students. Free snacks are also served during each movie screening. This event has been a much-awaited monthly event at the center by the students. LWA really does not really have to promote each of their movie event. It is the students themselves who bring their classmates and friends to the event.
Dennis Mark Aglosolos delivers a Gospel message right after every movie screening. Many students who first came to the student center during one of the movie screenings are now also attending the weekly Bible study schedule at the LWA office. Fellowship that lasts for another one hour to one-and-a- half hour follows after every screening. Please pray for the next free movie day at the LWA student center this coming October.
CFCM volunteers w/ teachers and school officials
CFCM held a 3-day Children’s Evangelistic Crusade(CEC) in San Luis, Pampanga last August 22-24 and we praise the Lord for opening the doors to 17 public elementary schools and 2 high schools with at least 8,000 pupils, students and teachers now available to be sown the seeds of salvation . This was in partnership with the Sambahang Kristiano ng Bahaypare and Mustard Seed Christian Baptist Church.
Our team had encountered some oppositions and distractions during our evangelism activities. One instance was when we met two young men who were trying to attract the elementary children by playing the guitar and chanting unfamiliar words in a nearby park at San Luis Central School during their lunch break. After a few minutes, more and more children and teenagers from Gonzales high school came to check out what the young men were chanting. We later learned that what they were saying were names of Hindu gods. They believe that the more they say these names, the more their souls will be cleansed.
Sis. Arlene Valdez using the curved illusion in one of the classes
One of our volunteer teachers, Bro. Buddy Valdez, approached them. They said they belong to the Hari Krishna religion. They claim to be followers of Christ, although they deny His Deity and the power of His blood to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness. Bro Buddy rebuked them and they fled. The Bible says” Rebuke the devil and he will flee from you”.
This has challenged our hearts the more to preach the gospel as we are being used to snatch the precious souls of the children from the paws of our enemy.
Our next CEC will be on September 19-21 at Cabiao, Nueva Ecija . Please pray for us as we try to saturate all the elementary and high schools in the area with the Gospel. There are around 17,000 pupils and students in these schools. A training at Grace Fundamental Baptist on September 17 will be held prior to the evangelism.
If you want to give your support to CFCM through Living Waters Asia, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, and please specify that the support you will be giving is for CFCM by making your email subject: Giving to CFCM. We will be very happy to directly give them 100% of what you intend to send them so you can be their valuable partner in reaching Filipino children for Christ.
People hold opinion on so many things that we can use to excite them to converse with us, as springboards to our Gospel presentation. In this clip, Ryan was asked about his belief about God's existence. Watch this clip to see how you can also use the topic in your next witnessing encounter.
