April and May are the summer months in the Philippines. During this time, most Filipinos like students are in vacation. Families are mostly in the popular vacation spots in the country like Baguio and Boracay. For us in Living Waters Asia, it's a time to use our free time from our individual jobs to be out, reaching the lost for Christ. We understand that God wants us to be sharing the Gospel in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2).
May 1 is Labor Day. Most labor groups and other activists troop to Luneta Park in Manila to make known to the public their labor demands and concerns. What will you do when you know there will be so much people in one place? You bring with you packs of Gospel tracts and you fish for souls. That's what we did. We started fishing in the evening of April 30, giving out tracts, doing one-to-ones and joining a usual evening discussion in the famed park between people from different religions that draw the attention of hundreds so that we can share the Gospel to them. The next day, May 1, we did more of what we did the evening before. It was such a joy to have so many people around to share the Gospel with.
Two weeks before our Labor Day evangelism (April 17-18), we also conducted a free evangelistic youth camp. The venue was at Daily Bread Resort at Bustos, Bulacan.
Even though the camp was just about 24 hours long, it was a Gospel-packed camp. We delivered a total of 5 Gospel presentations to everyone who attended the event. And because we basically had a very manageable crowd, we were able to be very personal with them, especially with the message we want them to fully understand. The event was not only pure serious stuff. We also made sure that we had fun activities that will make the camp more memorable for the attendees.
It's a great blessing to have a season where we can have so much time to heed God's call for us to be involved in evangelism. We're hoping to do more for our Master for the remainder of this summer time. Please do pray for everyone we have reached with the Gospel in the past weeks.
Ms. Gloria Hillman, sharing her testimony to the participants
Summer time means Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS) time in most of all our local churches. If we recall, some of our most memorable and most pleasant memories as children were our time attending DVBS classes. In sowing the seeds of salvation, some of us must had the clear understanding of the saving power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ during a DVBS.
CFCM is very thankful to Church on the Rock of Bgy. Calumpang, San Miguel, Bulacan for hosting our free DVBS training this year. It was attended by more than 30 people who will be DVBS teachers and assistant teachers. They were taught how to make their programs meaningful and worth remembering to children. Using the different levels of Book of Hope, they were taught how to share the Biblical Gospel to children.
Thank you for continuously praying for CFCM. Please continue doing so as we face another school year by June. To God be the glory!
