Why care?

In the New Testament, we read of chronicles of the time of Jesus and of the disciples and the apostle Paul, preaching and thousands upon thousands respond to their message. Another admirable thing about their time is the kind of Christians the people that respond to their message turn out to be, fully surrendered children of God. The key to the success of their evangelism ventures is their emphasis on sin, righteousness and judgment which is facilitated by the use of God’s Laws in their message. This should not come as a surprise for Psalm 19:7 so clearly stated that “The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul…”

At present, famous preachers still get thousands upon thousands of responses to their messages. But instead of preaching a biblical message just like in the accounts of the New Testament, they have turned to gimmicks and a more life-enhancement message that declares that “God will give them love, joy, peace, fulfillment and lasting happiness” just so they can entice people to give Jesus a try. Furthermore, these preachers prefer to leave out Hell from their message because of fear that they might scare people away. The issue became about one’s happiness instead of the required righteousness to get to Heaven. To make matters worst, the people in the churches of these preachers that call themselves “Christians” live a life that has really no distinct difference from those outside of churches.

We at Living Waters Asia, aim to contribute to the ushering of the Gospel message that Jesus himself preached, continued on by the disciples and by the apostle Paul, and faithfully delivered by evangelists of the time of Spurgeon, Luther, Wesley, etc. We need to go back to the basics as shown by the Scriptures and do away with gimmicks.
